American Craft Celebration

This inaugural year, downtown Wilmington will host the American Craft Walk Wilmington™ (formerly the Art Walk) on Saturday, October 15th.  This event will be the culmination of the ten-day celebration of American Craft Week Wilmington.  American Craft Week is a nationally established effort to build awareness of the Arts, Craft and Culture in America founded by CRAFT.org, a non-profit.  The former Art Walk grew tremendously over 12 years promoting the arts with the event and American Craft Walk Wilmington™ will not change the focus, or the success of the art walk, but simply connect it to a larger effort.

Can craftsmen participate without paying for a booth?

Yes.  However, you will not be allowed to sell anything.  If an artist wants to demonstrate only, or a dance troupe or musician wants to perform we will have designated areas to host you.

How do I apply as an artist? Why is it a juried event?

To fill out the artist application select the “Registration” Button above or go to the Artists page in the menu and you will find the application and details there.

The organizers feel deeply about showcasing a balance of different art mediums and those that demonstrate the skills that craftsmen have honed and dedicated themselves to. Therefore a notable jury of three that are in the arts field review each application and the artist’s work and background.

What is the cost to be a sponsor?

You can download our sponsorship information on the Sponsor page in the menu.  We offer various sponsorship packages for businesses providing full promotional opportunities.

When is the deadline to participate?

ACWW will accept artist applications up until September 1, 2016.   Applicants that are accepted and paid by July 15th can take advantage of 20% discount on their booth cost. Otherwise all payments must be received by September 1, 2016.   Non selling participants may contact us up until September 15th to be considered for a location.

Will there be a rain date if extreme weather prevents the event from taking place?

Yes.   Saturday, October 29th is the rain date.
