Owners and Organizers
Joan and Mike Loch, former gallery owners and currently both board members on the Downtown Business Alliance, took ownership of the former Art Walk in 2015. They renamed and re-branded the annual event to better depict their enthusiasm for true American Craft.
Joan’s full time occupation is Commercial Real Estate Broker with Momentum Companies, also located in the historic downtown right on Front St. She likes working with businesses to find new locations or sell their business if the time is right. Selling buildings or attracting investors to the many opportunities in the growing Wilmington area for investment is both challenging and rewarding to her.
Mike’s full time occupation is Manger of Wilmington Marine Center located on River Road. Being an active captain and just all around lover of boats and the water, this job is not a job according to Mike. You’ll find him walking the docks, fueling a boat or in the office with paperwork and you’ll always find him happy.
Joan and Mike relocated and reinvented themselves in Wilmington as retail gallery owners in 2006. Heading south from New Jersey, they left on their 42′ Jefferson Sundeck motoryacht and found Wilmington to be a micro-city that had the culture, arts, restaurants and of course water that they love. They lived on their yacht until 2009 and owned their gallery until 2015.
They loved their gallery of 2-D and 3-D of art glass, ceramics, wood, fiber and metal, but tired of retail. The American Craft Walk Wilmington is the perfect medicine to keep their artistic support alive.
